What can you do to help the club?
Our most pressing need is always for more coaching staff. Formal coaching qualifications are not required so if you are an ex-competitive swimmer or have skills to pass on, why not volunteer? It is not necessary to commit to doing a session every week as any level of participation would help. If you find you are enjoying the experience you may consider completing your coaching qualifications.
At a lower level of commitment we require poolside helpers at training sessions, galas and competitions. This could take up just a few weekend or evenings a year. In order to volunteer at poolside events you must have a Criminal Records Bureau check (At no cost to you because we are a registered charity) and be a member of the club (At a cost of £5.20 in order to cover ASA fees). If you enjoy this activity you could consider completing timekeeper or judging courses, allowing us to help other clubs host galas and in hosting our own.
If you want to take a more active role but are not interested in swimming or working poolside you could join the committee. We meet the second Wednesday of every month for about an hour to plan club business. After learning the ropes you may want to take on one of the committee roles. Alternatively, if you have skills you think may be useful we are always looking for new ways to drive the club forward.
