It was a cold and very wet Sunday afternoon that saw BNLSC come overall 3rd in the Mcgonagle Gala but having supporters like this certainly drove us on!

We had some excellent individual and team swims and the times from the Gala will be posted shortly.

Trial Tickets and Membership for The Meadows

At our final Thursday session at Deyes Lane, Mike Woodruff from "The Meadows" offered a few of us a chance to take an early peek at the new facility on Saturday morning.  Considering, the keys were only officially handed over at 6:00pm Friday, it was a lovely gesture.
So, bright and early this morning, Myself, Neil, Steve, Lynne, Barb and Sue rocked up for the official tour........what can I say, other than fantastic !  Mike and Glynne were there to welcome us, looking extremely tired, but also extremely proud, and they have every right to do so...the whole building is exceptional.  Steve hit it on the nail when he said "our kids now have every chance to be the best.."
The pool is simply fantastic, and we have been given everything we asked for, from storage space to notice boards and even a trophy cabinet ( I believe!!).  It's going to be a real learning curve moving into The Meadows, but we feel we are well on the way to establishing a good working relationship with the staff, much as we have for so many years at Deyes Lane.
Perhaps one of the most telling statements came from Glynn Sands.  I asked how many tickets had been
issued for the VIP weekend.  He said 1000.  I expressed surprise that he had allocated such a large amount of the quota (200) to the club.  Glynn simply said that it was no surprise, after all we are their resident swimming club.  It feels like a major turning point for the club, and we are ready for the challenges ahead.
One final reminder, through the club links page, you will automatically be taken to The Meadows website.  For the next seven days, if you complete a membership for The Meadows, you will receive a 15% discount on the 1st years membership.  Glynn and Mike have confirmed that this offer will be extended only to BNLSC members and families over the weekend of 28th & 29th November, during the VIP visits.  Please consider this money sa
ving offer, you can take in a gym session or aerobic class whilst your child is training!
We've also been asked to advise you that Library memberships can be taken out during the VIP visits.
I'm sure the 1st week or two will be a bit frantic, please bear with us as we adjust to the new surroundings.  The usual desk will be in place with the usual suspects manning it, look out for us to help you - and if you feel like buying us a coffee, please feel free to do so...!
Thanks
Mary

Tadpoles Final Results

As ever COLSC have offered a fantastic event and we thank everybody involved. Last night was the final gala of this 7 gala event and once again we had some excellent positions. Kate OBrien took 5th place in the 11 yr 4x2 IM (2:59.51) and Rebecca Meadows also took 5th place in the 12 yr 4 x 2 IM (2:57.81).
As the last gala the BAGCATS were also awarded for the tournament and we are very proud to announce that 4 of our swimmers took top 6 positions within their age groups! Mattea-Jay Oliver gained 2nd place for the 9 yr girls. Jamie Grayson took 6th place fo the 9 yr boys. Kate OBrien took 5th place for the 11 yr girls and Rebecca Meadows took 5th place in the 12 yr girls. Congratulations to them all but also to every BNLSC swimmer that represented themselves so well at this tournament across a long 13 weeks!

New Pool Info!

The last session for most swimmers will be on Thursday 19th November.
The last ever session at Deyes for BNLSC will be 10:15am to 12:00 midday for our senior squad swimmers (who normally swim 12:00 midday - 2:00pm).  Apologies to our younger swimmers for cancelling your sessions, but Gala commitments have forced our hands.
New sessions will start at "The Meadows" on Monday 30th November.  The sessions we have negotiated are as follows:-
Monday - 7pm to 9pm                          Thursday - 7pm to 9pm                            Sunday - 6pm to 8pm

****Wednesday sessions at Bootle North Park leisure remain unchanged****
Obviously, we are trying hard to accomodate existing sessions, but it is inevitable that some changes will need to be made.  During the close down week, all swimmers will receive by post to their home address a letter advising what their new sessions will be.  There may be a very limited scope to switch sessions, but we must stress limited scope.
Once the offer of sessions have been made, any queries should be made via the club mobile: 07936367749.
We would like to take this opportunity to Thank all the staff at Deyes Lane pool for their help and humour over the years, and also extend our Thanks to swimmers and their families for their continued loyalty to BNLSC.  This is an exciting time for the club and it's members as we move forward.

We have been offered a number of VIP passes for volunteers, swimmers and their families to experience "The Meadows" before it is officially opened to the public.  The passes are for Saturday 28 November, and Sunday 29 November, and will allow you to have a look around the new facility, and to have a complimentary swim.  Details of how to obtain the passes will be sent out with the session letters.

Liam steals the glory at Tadpole 6 event!

Tadpole Event 6 saw Liam Carlin provide one of his best swims of the tournament in the 10 years 50M Back taking 1st place in 40.66. Mattea-Jay Oliver tried her best to match him but was pipped into a very respectable 2nd place in the 9 years 50M Breast in 46.00. The final silk of the evening went to Jamie Grayson with a 5th place finish in the 9 years 50M Back in 45.38. We did also have relay representation on the evening and all of our teams swam well and we thank those that travelled to Everton for that swim alone. Team spirit is a big part of the club ethos and your efforts are appreciated.

Club Champs - Podium Sports - Get good value kit!

Steve Rimmer will be present at the final Club Championships on the 15th November. He has been before and we have all seen the benefits. If you want to take a look at the kit feel free and enjoy the BNLSC discount on excellent swimming gear for your children.

Shazza's Caff bids farewell!

As a result of our new pool being completed in the coming weeks this will be our last every Caff performance in the Club Champs. Remember everything comes back to the kids so spend your pennies and please note the new selection of healthy Milkshake drinks on offer. They will not be new if they are not sold so crack on!

Tadpole Gala 5 Results and BNLSC again pick up 6 Silks.

The 400M and 200M races are never the most attractive but Gala 5 saw some great swims in these distance events again. Jamie Grayson took an excellent 3rd in the 9 yr 400M Free in 6:34.96 after what was a 395M stroke for stroke competition with the next lane! Liam Carlin also took a silk in the 400M Free for 10 yr olds finishing with 6th place in 6:06.80. Mattea-Jay Oliver pushed very hard in the 9 yrs 200M Free and gained an excellent 3rd place in 2:50.79. The sprints on the evening also saw great results for our swimmers. Kate O'Brien took 3rd place in the 11 yrs 50M Back in 38.99, Rebecca Meadows took 2nd place in the 12 yrs 50M Back in 36.91 and Chloe Forsyth finished the evening with a 3rd place in the same 12 yrs 50M Back in 37.78. As ever a fantastic show from all of our swimmers who also included Lauren, Claudia, Georgina and Adele on the evening.

Not bad for there first 2 hours of training hey!  As I receive emails and pictures each day I will try to email them to you keeping the club informed as much as I can.

Good Luck to Jenny and Sophie

As mentioned earlier in the year, Jenny and Sophie will fly out with the City Of Liverpool squad to Majorca this week for an intense training session. We hope they both enjoy and learn from the experience.

Club Champs 15th November - 11am Warm Up

The final Club Championships of the year will be held on the 15th November. They will be the last ever to be held at Deyes Lane and will signal the start of a new history as we move into our new pool in Maghull. Please do not miss the chance to represent and get your details into the front desk. You can also as ever download the entry form by clicking here.

4th Tadpole Gala brings the Silks for our swimmers

Once again BNLSC had an excellent representation at the Tadpoles Gala. Our oldest representatives Rebecca Meadows and Chloe Forsyth both took silks on the evening. In the case of Rebecca she took an excellent 2nd in the 12 years 200M Back in a time of 2:53.94 and a 6th in the 50M Fly in 38.64. Chloe also represented twice on the evening and gained a fantastic 2nd in the 50M Fly in 37.01. Well Done to both Girls.  Kate O'Brien represented again in 2 races and was not going to be left out of the silks. Kate took 2nd in the 11 years 50M Fly 38.73 and 3rd in the 200M Back 2:52.85. Kate missed the last gala due to injury so this was an excellent come back peformance. Our last 2 silks came in the 9 years category with both Mattea-Jay Oliver and Jamie Grayson keeping up their excellent standards so far in this tournament. Mattea-Jay took 2nd in the 400M Free 5:45.85 and Jamie took 5th in the 200M Free 3:09.60. As ever well done to all of our swimmers on the evening which also included Zoe, Emma, Lauren, Liam and Jacob.

Aquateer Roadshow - Swim 21

The Club recently received some Reward & Recognition as a Swim 21 Accredited club.  The prize? The chance for two of our swimmers to take part in an "Aquateer Roadshow". The only criteria was that the swimmers had to be aged between 10 and 13 years on the day of the event, and competant in all four swimming strokes.
So, on Saturday 3rd October, Claudia Barnes and Georgia Bradley headed off to Liverpool Aquatic Centre to join in the fun along side swimmers from other local clubs.  On arrival they were introduced to the 2009 World Champion & Olympic silver medalist swimmer Kerri Anne Payne who put them through their paces in the pool, led them in a presentation, and afterwards participated in a one to one meet and greet where the girls got their pictures taken with Kerri Anne.
The pictures show what a great time our swimmers had.  They also displayed their commitment to the club, as straight after the roadshow, the girls headed straight down the motorway to meet the rest of the BNLSC squad to compete in the National Arena League in Bury. Well Done Girls.......................... Mary

4th Place President's Cup Finish!

An excellent team performance with many PB's took our team to 4th Place. Well Done to every swimmer involved. Times have been posted.

The people you meet!

Via the website we have today had a comment posted - I would just like to share the fact that Kate and I met Rebecca Adlington in a supermarket in Nottingham!  Kate was overjoyed! Got her autograph.  We were so dumbstruck, forgot to take a photo! - I think we can learn 2 things from this 1. Carry a camera at all times as they can support your famous meetings stories and 2. Shop nearer to home the frozen stuff will not defrost!

British Gas ASA National 2010 Qualifying Times

The National Qualifying times have been published. Please click this qualify link to see or go to our Swim Times page to download.

National Arena Swimming League Gala 1

The Gala was held in Bury and we took a good sized squad via coach to the event. A competition of this type with open age group swimmers competing will always stretch the reserves of our small squad. This however did not show in the attitude and desire of our swimmers, many of whom swam in races with other competitors as much as 2 years older than them. This of course is the nature of this tournament but it is great to see our own swimmers step up and swim in support of each other as a squad. Well Done to every swimmer who took part on the evening and as ever a big thank you to those pool side for ensuring the event went smoothly for our swimmers.

Tadpole Gala 3 - Relay teams start

Jacob, Liam, Nathaniel, Jamie, Chloe, Emma, Zoe and Rebecca all took part in the 4x1L FT last night representing Bootle and North. Both teams came in 7th place in what was a very high standard set of races. Well Done to both teams. We also had individual swimmers competing and again we had some great results. Jamie Grayson took his second 1st place of the tournament so far with a win in the Boys 9 Years 200M Breastroke. 3:51.69 was a very impressive time and a long way ahead of those competing alongside him. Well Done Jamie. Mattea-Jay Oliver took her second 2nd position of the galas so far with an excellent performance on the not very popular 200M Fly for 9 year old girls. 3:29.63. As ever we pass our congratulations to all the swimmers who competed on the night.

Lancashire County Swim Clinic!

Kate O'Brien has been invited to attend the Lancashire County Swim Clinic in October 2009. Kate is one of only twenty girls in Lancashire to be invited to this elite event.  The event provides specialist stroke tuition by Great Britain team swimmers.  Last year Keri-Anne Payne attended.  During the event, swimmers will have specialist stroke tuition, complete some land training and have the opportunity to spend time with the British Team Swimmers asking questions.  This provides an excellent  development opportunity for not only Kate but also the Club Coaches who have been invited to accompany Kate. Well Done Kate

Website general updates

Various aspects of the site have had updated information added. The Gala / Competition dates have been updated. The Comedy Caption Picture has been updated, the 2nd gala Echo Cup times have been added to Swim Times.

Club Championships - Swim Times Posted

A very pleasing Club Championships with many swimmers making debuts. It was great to see such club spirit amongst the older swimmers, Paul Williams especially had lots of positive comments for our younger swimmers and that support does make a difference! Well Done to all entrants and please go and take a look at your times from today on our Swim Times link.

Caff - bags, bags, bags and not Tea Bags

Many thanks for all those who bought a programme, a sandwich, cup of tea or a sausage or bacon barm.  Today's caff made a profit of £85.  All of this money goes directly back to the swimmers.  We will hopefully have one more caff before the pool moves to the The Meadows.  If anyone has any suggestions for how we can spend the money, please contact us via the website and let us know. One of the suggestions received today is for bags for all the swimmers?

Echo Cup Gala 2 proves difficult!

As ever our swimmers gave their all on Saturday but again we were forced to present a team missing key swimmers due to illness and absence. The swimmers on the day gave some excellent performances but despite this we finally finished in 5th place on the day. We will confirm shortly if we have made the Echo Cup Final but all indications are that we will not progress into the Final this year. The team times have been posted on the City of Liverpool Website and we will publish our own team times shortly under the swim times link.

Echo Cup and Club Champs - Busy Weekend.

This weekend finds round 2 of the Echo Cup at Everton Park. The warm up is 4pm for all swimmers who form a part of the squad. Again we have a tough draw but the reality is we will have to give it our best shot and take our chances. Good luck to the squad!
The Club Champs will be on Sunday at Deyes with an 11am warm up. Please ensure you have your entry forms with the front desk by Thursday as we do not want any swimmers to miss out. There will be a cafe on the morning with all profits going to the swimmers! We have already seen the benefit of this with the subsidised hoodies our swimmers are now sporting!

Tadpoles - Gala 2 and the Silks keep coming.

If long it was still a very enjoyable Gala 2 for the Bootle and North Liverpool Swimmers. Continuing from their impressive start 2 weeks ago Mattea-Jay Oliver and Jamie Grayson were once again on the podium. Mattea-Jay in the 9 year old 50M Backstroke came 2nd (42.74) and Jamie 3rd in the 9 year old 200M Backstroke (3:22.33). Liam Carlin completed the silks for our swimmers finishing 4th in the 10 year old 200M Backstroke and taking his first podium of the tournamant so far. We hope Liam and all the swimmers can keep pushing for more and again a very well done to Lauren, Jacob, Emma, Chloe, Claudia, Adele, Georgina and Katie for their performances on the evening.

2nd Chance to get your Hoodie Order - 30th Sep deadline!

Take a look at the attached order form. Despite an excellent take up of 76 Hoodies we now find more swimmers and parents looking to order. Karen has organised the option for a second order but the deadline is a very strict 30th September. Speak to the front desk or download the attached form.

Presidents Cup Times posted

See our Swim Times for the times posted by our swimmers in today's tournament. We finished the day in 6th place with some very good individual performances.

Tadpoles - First Timers swim like Old Timers!

Friday night was the opening night of the Tadpoles for 2009 and our Bootle and North swimmers provided some fantastic swims and results for us all to be proud of. Many of our swimmers were entering Tadpoles for the very first time but swims from Jamie Grayson and Mattea-Jay Oliver really stood out! Jamie gained 1st Place in the 9years 50M Breaststroke (49.48) by over 2 seconds and Mattea-Jay again took 1st Place in the 9 years 200M Back (3:08.06) by over 6 seconds landing a new tournament record by 2 seconds at the same time. Lauren Shacklady was not going to miss out either taking 2nd Place in the 10 years 200M Back (3:06.08) in what proved to be a very competitive set of heats for this stroke. Kate O'Brien completed the silks for the evening with a 4th Place finish in the 200M Free (2:40.73). It is good to see our swimmers in such good numbers at Tadpoles and Amy, Claudia, Joseph, Emma, Rebecca, Chloe, Zoe, Matthew, Jacob and Liam should be very proud of their swims on the night. If you wish to check the times in detail please go to our links page and click the City Of Liverpool Swimming link (gala results) to check all the times on the evening.

ECHO CUP Round 1 - 4th Place Finish

1 point was the difference between 3rd and 4th for us today and in a tough first leg we have given ourselves a chance of qualification for the Echo Knockout Cup Final. Despite 3 very tight DQ's we secured 4th position with a much reduced squad in the 10 and 11 year old age groups. Well done to every swimmer many of whom swam lots of races just to give the team a chance. We have one gala to go on the 26th September and will need to be at our strongest to ensure we go forward as a team into the final. As ever thank you to those on pool side and the parents for supporting our swimmers. THE TIMES ARE NOW POSTED UNDER SWIM TIMES.

Enjoy the Summer Break

The simple message for our Swimmers over the summer break is to relax. It is important to stay fit and put the swimming hours in as we all know during the year. We also know we have the Tadpoles, Echo Cup, Presidents Cup and Speedo ahead of us on our return so an exciting few months ahead. It is important however to enjoy your break and take it easy, you deserve the rest so take advantage of it and we will see you in a couple of weeks.

Siobhan and Gareth celebrate birth of Baby Girl - Jessica

Siobhan our little pool coach (not Donna!!) has had a little girl, 6 weeks or so early, fit and healthy. She weighed 3lb 6oz and is called Jessica. Both Mum & baby are doing well. We send our very best to the whole family and look forward to the pictrures!
Picture
A fantastic Well Done to Emma. Simply getting to the ASA National Finals is a great achievement but to take 4 medals (1 Silver and 3 Bronze) and a 3rd placed Bagcats overall for the 11 year old age group across the country is something to be proud of!

ASA National Age group Finals - Follow Emma and Sophie

The ASA National finals are being held as you read! Take a look at the RESULTS and follow Emma Grayson and Sophie Sheppard in real time. The 11 year old swimming races detailed in the news article below will show Emma and the relays to follow will show Sophie. For clarity this is a high level tournament and we can confirm that Emma has already (22/07) won 2 Bronze Medals in each of the 100M Free and 200M Back! The club is rightly proud but not nearly as much as Emma should be in herself. Sophie and Emma have competed in the 400M Free 11-13 years relay today (23/07) and whilst not making the final against incredibly stiff opposition they have represented superbly well, not bad at all as Bootle and North held 50% of the City of Liverpool team in this heat! Emma has come through the heats and reached the final of the 11 years 400M Free (23/07) and taken a fantastic 5th place Final position (with a 5 second PB combined across both the heat and final). We continue to pass our very best wishes to the girls. Emma has tody taken the Silver Medal in the 200M Free (24/07) to ensure that her week just gets better and better! (25/07) The 100M Back final has just finished and Emma has taken the Bronze Medal. We simply hope we are keeping up with all these results. The final day is tomorrow and Emma has more to come so all the best at the end of a staggering week! (26/07) Emma has made the final of the IM later today and early indications are that she has finished with an overall 3rd spot in the Bagcats for the ASA National 11 year olds tournament.

Summer Break Dates

As ever we enter the summer months unfortunately the club will need to have its  summer shut down for a period of time. This year this closure will be limited for any swimmers who will be taking part in the Tadpoles, Echo Cup and Presidents Cup as the coaches will be providing sessions that little bit earlier than the full club reopening.

Swimming sessions will end after the Thursday night 30th July session and reopen on Wednesday 2nd September at Bootle. There will be however as stated above sessions running from Monday 17th August for Tadpole, Echo Cup and Presidents Cup swimmers (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday as normal. Sunday's will be 10.15 through to 12.15).

Sunday 26th July will only be 1 session from 10.15 through to 12.15 for all swimmers.

Thats a coincidence - Still no FIJI hits however!

The Bootle and North Liverpool Website has attracted a good deal of attention having completed its first 6 months as a working website. Take a look next door at the various countries that have hit the site! Why we have no idea, but hey Swimming is a world sport as some of our Bootle and North Liverpool Swimmers found this morning whilst training at the 50M Picton pool alongside the Fiji National Swimming Team!

ASA National Age Group Finals

As most of our swimmers are winding down and looking forward to the summer break spare a thought for our 2 swimmers, Emma Grayson & Sophie Sheppard.  Both of which have been good enough to qualify to complete at this year’s ASA National Age Group Finals at Pondsforge, Sheffield.

This gala is considered to be the end of season grand finale where the nation’s best compete against each other and some from further afield as well (Turkey & Ireland will have competitors). Both girls will be following the footsteps of Steve Parry, Michael Rock & Francesca Halsall, all of whom have competed at this event in previous years.

The National Age Group Gala is being held from the 22nd - 26th July 2009 for those girls aged under 14 and boys aged under 15 at the date of the last day of the competition.  This year’s qualifying times were set at the expected high level with each swimmer having to achieve their times at an ASA licensed gala during the qualifying time period.  However the qualifying period did include local opportunities at galas such as, City of Liverpool Winter Meet, the LancashireCounty championships and the North West Regional finals.

The entire Gala finals are rumoured to be going out on a live internet stream via the British Swimming website but this has not been confirmed as yet.  So, if this does turn out to be true and you wish to log on, please do and cheer on our girls.  Emma will be competing throughout the gala as an individual in the 100m & 200m backstroke, 100m 200m & 400m freestyle, 200m IM and as part of a 400 medley and a 400m freestyle relay team.  Sophie will be competing as part of a 400 freestyle relay team. Simply to have attained standards that allow both of the girls to be at this tournament is exceptional and as a club we are not only proud of their performances but we wish them the very best in the coming weeks!

Fun Day Pictures

The swimmers all enjoyed a great day on Sunday. They experienced standard training sessions combined with pilates and technical DVD sessions prior to simply having fun. PICTURES are available thanks to Karen so go take a look. As ever thanks to all the Coaches, Lifeguard staff and Cooks, who despite over whelming odds managed to ensure that every child had a snack and hot sandwich during the day.

Committee Statement and Request

At the recent Committee Meeting the point was raised that during Gala's away from the Bootle and North Liverpool SC own pools we do not always have enough poolside coaches / leaders for our swimmers who are sometimes unsure of event schedules and expectations. After discussion we accept that an important requirement at any gala is for our swimmers to feel comfortable in the environment so as to help prepare them for their pending races. As such we have spoken to the coaches and remaining committee members on this subject and feel we should always ensure we have the right amount of people poolside. At this point we are comfortable for the early Tadpole and Echo Cup events but feel if any parents / carers wish to volunteer their time for pending events we would be very interested to hear from them. Expectations would involve staying for the whole gala (including Warm Up), allowance for CRB checks prior to going poolside and working with time sheets gala event logs. You can register your interest at the front desk or by simply clicking here and dropping us an E Mail. All support is appreciated and please never hesitate to share your views with the committee members, they help to take our club forward.

Junior Inter Swimming League 4th July

The preliminary round was held at Everton Park on Saturday and Bootle and North had 3 Swimmers representing in the City of Liverppol Swiming Club "A" Team. Alex Fry, Jamie Grayson and Mattea-Jay Oliver all swam for the City helping them to a 2nd place finish on the day. All 3 swimmers performed very well on the day and for both Jamie and Mattea-Jay this represented their first appearance as under 9's for the squad.

City of Liverpool SC Summer Sprint Meet Performances

BNLSC had such a great representation at this meet that it has become impossible to go through every performance. As a result we will share all the top 3 finishes and direct you to the COLSC website for the remainder of the excellent performances. Sophie Sheppard had no less than 2 first place finishes with a 1st in the 12-13 years 50M Free and 100M Free. Our only double winner of the weekend but others such as Jamie Grayson came very close with a 1st in the 9 years 100M Breast and 2nd in the 50M Breast. Laura Riley came 2nd in the 14+ Breast and Alex Fry also came 2nd in the 11 years 50M Breast. Chloe Forsyth completed our medal tally with a 3rd in the 11 years Back. The above swimmers and all of our club swimmers had a busy weekend with a good number of races. It is great to see such high numbers at an individual meet and as ever we pass our congratulations to you all.

2nd Place earned in the Macmillan Gala

Liverpool Penguin Swimming Club presented an excellent gala for the Macmillan Nurses Appeal and Zoe's Place Baby Hospice charities today (21st June) at Everton Park. The Bootle and North Liverpool squad were well represented with many of our younger swimmers making their first appearance in competitive swimming for the club. We must as a result be very happy with a 2nd place finish (232 Points) to Liverpool Penguins (288). Garston took the 3rd spot (226). Every swimmer performed exceptionally well and as ever we thank all those on poolside who volunteered to help and support them. One of the many noticeable results from the day was the Boys 25M Free Cannon in which the Bootle and North Boys team not only won but retained the trophy from last year! See the large trophy above! Well Done to the Guys on that one. As ever we thank Liverpool Penguins for the invite. Both the individual and team times where we have them are now posted on the swim times page.

Video Technique Page Established

With immediate effect we have created a short Video Page showing various tips to swimming strokes. These will be changed on a regular basis and if you have any specifics that you would like us to add please contact us and we will try our best to do so. The link is on the home page or you can click here to go and take a look.

North West Regional Age Group - Stunning Performances!

We promised to update the results from the Swim North West Championships and without doubt it is a pleasure to report such positive performances from 3 of our Swimmers. Sophie Sheppard in the 12 year old categories across the whole of the North West came 20th in the 200M Free, 18th in the 400M Free, 13th in the 100M Fly and 13th in the 100M Free. Well Done to Sophie who also managed to finish 22nd in the North West Bagcat awards. Alex Fry also swam at the tournament in the 11 year old category entering 2 races and getting into 2 finals! Alex came 6th in the 400M Free and 8th in the 200M Free finals which is again an excellent performance. Finally and not last as she does not seem to understand coming outside of the top 3 is Emma Grayson. Emma made all of the following finals and achieved the following fantastci results in the 11 year old category. 3rd in the 400M Free, 1st in the 100M Back, 1st in the 200M Free, 3rd in the 100M Free, 2nd in the 200M Back and 2nd in the 200M IM. Club Champs and "Sharons Caff"

The 3rd Club Championships have today been a great day and they were supported hugely by parents and friends of the swimmers. It is great to see so many people at the Championships and as a result "Sharons Caff" has again been able to raise over £60 in generated cash for our Swimmers! Congratulations to every swimmer who took part and as always thanks to the coaches, timekeepers, front desk staff, Sharons Caff team and Neil for pulling it all together.

M&D Gala Report - 9th May 2009.

Yet again another EXCELLENT M&D Gala at Crosby Leisure Centre. It was neck and neck throughout between Crosby Swimming Club and Bootle and North SC but the strength of Bootle and North swimmers proved too much as we edged ahead in the final stages to eventually win by 14 points.  Congratulations to all swimmer who certainly swam their hearts out and were behind each other all the way!   It is hope the cancelled Gala at Wallasay will be re-arranged in the next few weeks - details to follow.   Well done again to all the swimmer and supporters!!

M&D - Club Champs - Breakfast!

Good Luck to the Swimmers in the up and coming M&D. Your efforts to date have been excellent and every club member wishes you the best for Saturday.
No rest at all however as we hit the Club Championships on Sunday with an 11AM warm up.
Some would argue most importantly however is the knowledge that our lovely "Dinner Ladies" will again be cooking our Breakfast requests at the Club Champioships so as before :-
As part of the fundraising programme for the Club, we will be offering refreshments of

Tea - Coffee - Toast - Sausages - Bacon - Teacakes - Hotdogs

All for a very reasonable price. All proceeds from the refreshments are used on children of the club.  If you have any ideas on how we can spend funds, please speak to any member of the Committee.

Radford Swimming Club 27th Open Meet 2/3 may 2009

We are writing more and more positive notes in the last few weeks and the Radford Swimming Club meet is another opportunity to highlight the big contribution made by our BNLSC swimmers, whilst representing the City of Liverpool S C at the Level 2 Meet at Ponds Forge Sheffield this weekend. We do not have all the results as they have not been posted on the web as yet but the medal results are as follows for our own Swimmers.

Emma Grayson 1st 100m free, 200m free, 200IM, 200m back.  2nd 50m free & 400m free. Emma also won the Bagcats for 11 year old girls which is not surprising when you look at her performances across so many events!

Kate O'Brien 1st 50m Back and Sophie Sheppard 2nd 50m Fly have also won medals and again BNLSC passes on our congratulatuions to all 3 girls. City of Liverpool SC did eventually win the Top Club for the meet and I think we can all see the contribution that our own swimmers made during the event.

The 40th National Swimming League Cup Final was completed this weekend by City of Liverpool

Emma Grayson represented the City of Liverpool this weekend at the 40th National Swimming Cup Final. She had a fantastic 2nd in the girls 11yrs under 50M Back alongside other team and individual races. Well Done to Emma!

Bootle and North celebrate another M&D Victory

Another excellent performance by all swimmers at the M&D Gala held at Crosby Leisure Centre and, despite trailing throughout the gala to Crosby we snatched the lead in the very last event to win by only 1 point. Well done to all swimmers and we're looking forward to the next round which will be held on Saturday 9th May 2009 also in Crosby Leisure.

Easter Raffle

Even Humpty Dumpty would have had a smashing time entering our Easter Egg Raffle at the last Club Championships! For those who have not noticed we have worked a clever egg theme into this story! Eggcellent idea dont you think? Anyway this is a serious issue and I am not yoking... I have loads you know! The winners of the raffle were Joseph and Thomas Turnbull so congratulations to them and thanks to everybody who purchased a ticket allowing the raffle to raise just short of £50! As ever all the cash raised will go directly towards the swimmers.

Pilates Session gives a new dimension to our training.

The first Easter session witnessed the clubs first involvement with Pilates and it was not only very educational but created a great deal of fun for the swimmers. We assume it was fun as most of the swimmers were constantly bent double so we can only guess they were laughing out loud whilst attempting to gain the perfect abdominals. Of course they could have been in a good deal of pain if the mumbles were anything to go by! Thank you to the coaches as ever and well done to the 20 swimmers who decided to take this additional session during their bank holiday weekend.

Easter Swimming sessions scheduled for the older swimmers at Deyes on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April. Steve will run a programme on both days with the Saturday including a dry session from around 11.45am for 45 minutes. Ensure you bring the relevant clothing kit. This session was carried out last year and proved positive so we look forward to seeing you on both days.

Cafe Fund Raiser

The cafe at yesterdays Club Championships raised over £75. This is double the profit we made at the last club champs. A huge thankyou to everyone who contributed, by buying a bacon buttie or a raffle ticket. All of the money raised will be used on the swimmers of the club. If you have any ideas on how to spend this money, please send them in by using this website or let any member of the committee know, the names are on the noticeboard. If you have not yet bought a raffle ticket for the Easter Hamper, don't miss out! They are only 50p a strip! Mary Webb will be selling tickets all week during swimming sessions on the desk at Deyes Lane. The winning ticket will be drawn on Sunday 5th April. Results will be published on the website. Full details of the total money raised will be updated when the raffle has been drawn.

2nd Club Championships completed - A great day well supported by all!

The Breaststroke Championships were well supported and albeit a little more daunting for some of our Swimmers it was pleasing to again see good numbers representing in IM. All Times have now been published under the Swim Times Link. The Club would like to thank our "Dinner Ladies" again who have done a sterling job in both providing us with refreshment and food whilst helping to raise much needed funds for the Swimmers too.

Today we also had Podium Sport selling swimming gear at the championships. We decided that rather than the club ask for a donation we would prefer the discount to be passed straight to the individuals purchasing the goods. We hope you all managed to get some good deals! We have added a link to the Podium Sport site and feel free to mention you are affiliated to the Bootle and North Liverpool Swimming Club.

The next Club Championships will be held on the 29th March. As part of the fundraising programme for the Club, we will be offering refreshments of                  Tea - Coffee - Toast - Sausages - Bacon - Teacakes - Hotdogs
All for a very reasonable price. All proceeds from the refreshments are used on children of the club.  If you have any ideas on how we can spend funds, please speak to any member of the Committee.  Full details of Committee members are on the Club notice board and of course the Website Homepage
.

City of Liverpool Swim Camp in Majorca

We have had confirmation that Jenny Howarth and Sophie Sheppard have been selected to visit this training camp in Majorca in October of this year. This is a great opportunity for both of the girls and we really hope they enjoy and benefit from the intense training schedule they are sure to experience. Well Done Girls.

Club Champs - Times Published

1st March saw the first Club Championships of the year. Take a look at the published swimming times for what was an excellent set of results on the day. Well done to every winner and to all those that tested themselves on the day. Many of you will have noticed our new canteen facilities and I am reliably told that alongside the breakfast options we will have Tea available on March 29th for our next Championships. All money raised goes towards the Swimmers so forget the waistlines and continue to indulge! Obviously we thank our 3 lovely "Dinner Ladies" and very much look forward to their efforts at the next meet.

M&D Gala 4 victory for Bootle and North Liverpool

An outstanding performance by all swimmers at the M&D, Gala 4 held in Connah's Quay. With 24 wins out of 50 events it was a great gala for Bootle & North Liverpool SC, who lead throughout the gala, 33 points ahead of the second placed team. Swimmers and supporters got behind the team all the way. The gap has certainly been closed between the current division leaders Crosby and with 3 more gala's remaining in the division, Bootle & North Liverpool SC are getting stronger and stronger, the chase to be Division 2 Champions is still within our sights!! Well done again to all swimmers!

City of Liverpool 50M Sprints at Picton

M&D Gala at Wallasey leaves us in the Dark!

Despite the best efforts of the pool the M&D Gala on Saturday 10th January was cut short by an electrics failure at the pool. We understand the event will be rescheduled but at the point of typing this note we have not had confirmation on a new date. Thank you very much for the Swimmers who were present and we hope to have more detail to share with you shortly.

Awards Night goes swimmingly well!!

Many of our Swimmers supported by Parents and other family members enjoyed a packed night in Maghull to celebrate the achievement of our Swimmers through 2008. Positive performances in the Echo Cup and Mcgonagle Invitation Gala alongside club championships were all awarded and a great night was had by all. We now look forward to Karen and the rest of the committee putting together our next social event.

 Previous News

2008 saw some real developments at the club both within the pool and behind the scenes. The team reached the 2008 Echo Cup Final for the first time in 3 years which is clear evidence of our development as a Swimming Club.

Many of our Individual swimmers represented at various competitions setting records and creating PB's on their way.

The membership policy was changed to ensure Swimmers got increased pool time with the right coaches.

Technique and distance sessions have been delivered by the coaching staff ensuring we are ready as a club to take advantage of our developing position. As above 2009 is an exciting year for the club, and the advancement we have seen in 2008 should be considered only as a starting point for the future of all our swimmers!
