Merseyside and District League round 2
This event at Widnes leisure centre on Sunday will sadly be run without spectators. This is the decision of the host club Halton to avoid covid infections. I suggest it may be worth teaming up with friends to send multiple children per car. On the positive side three of our regional level swimmers who were unavailable for round 1 will be competing so we ought to score lots of points. There will be no training either pool on Sunday as all our coaches will be attending the gala.

Flip OUT
We have arranged a private club only session at Flip Out, Aintree on Sat 18th Dec 17.30pm to 19:00pm! This event is FREE
We're opening it up to swimmers initially but will also accommodate as many siblings as we can! Children 8 and under must be accompanied on the play zone by an adult, likewise any Mums or Dads who want a bounce, let me know and we'll hopefully get you in too!
There will be unlimited cordial available and the cafe will be open if anyone wishes to purchase food etc.
I can sign off one group waiver for the children. Any adults attending will need to sign their own waiver. To confirm by signing up for places, you are agreeing to the waiver I will sign on their behalf.
If you wish your child/children to be included can you please reply to the club email providing the following information:
. Names & DOB for swimmers
. Names & DOB of siblings
. For children 8 & under - name of adult supervising.
. Any parents who want to participate too
Ideally we would like as many parents as possible to stay to the session as we cannot supervise everyone on our own. If you are happy to stay to watch, can you put that in your reply too.
Thanks

Please only bring your child to the session previously allocated (If you need a reminder, just get in touch!).

A few reminders of COVID rules that need to be followed:
- Don't arrive too early as it leads to a bottle neck whilst waiting to get access to the changing rooms, but please don't be late!
- Please use hand sanitiser on entering the premises
- Parents - if entering the premises with your child, you must wear a face covering whilst there (unless exempt) This is a new rule put in place by Sefton Council.
- Children should have their own drinks bottle clearly marked with their name - the vending machines are currently empty so it's really important that drinks are brought to the sessions.
Kind Regards, Mary
County Championships
Swim England has confirmed it is committed to doing everything it can to enable the County Age Group Swimming Championships take place in 2021.
However, due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions, it is highly unlikely that these events will be able to take place in their usual January/February time slot.
To that end, Swim England has announced that the normal window will be suspended until later in the year.
An alternative window will now run from late May until 18 July 2021, with a further racing opportunity opening up for counties later in the year so older swimmers sitting exams will be given the chance to participate at an appropriate time.

Everton and Prescot Spring Galas
Accepted and rejected entries are now on the upcoming galas page here.
Unfortunately all clubs have had a number of rejections as the gala is very full again. For future Everton and Prescot Galas it is probably a good idea to enter more races than you want to do or concentrate on your best strokes to help with making the times.

We came second again in the second M and D fixture. Once again we lost out to Bridgfield. With two fixtures to go we probably have to win them both for the promotion spot. Well done to all our hard working swimmers and the coaching team.

Feb Update
This is a busy Feb for the club. The Splash and Dash is on Sunday the 18th and will be the very first gala for lots of our younger swimmers. Hopefully they all enjoy themselves and achieve some personal bests.
Friday the 23rd is the awards evening and there is a Merseyside and District league event on Sunday the 25th. We did well in the first round and are definitely in contention to be promoted to division two after missing out by a whisper on winning.
March is also fairly busy with a two day Everton and Prescot gala at Huyton Leisure centre the weekend 17th and 18th. We have a number of our swimmers entered for this already but hopefully we will have a few more entries before the deadline. The third Merseyside and District league event is also in March on Saturday the 24th.

TADPOLES 2017 - September - City of Liverpool Event
The Tadpoles is an excellent development meet hosted by the COLSC squad. Many of our BNLSC have started with this competition before going on to many different events afterwards. It is an exceptional start point to enter bigger competitions and is held at Everton Park.
At BNLSC we recommend all swimmers ready to compete should be looking at this competition. The deadline is at the start of August so you need to be looking now and talking to the BNLSC coaches please if you have an interest.

Emilia Hunt and Mattea-Jay both enjoy the 1st weekend of the Lancashire Championships at the Manchester Aquatic Centre Long Course pool. She PB'd in both the 200IM (coming 9th overall in the 12 years age group) and the 100M Back so a great entrance into this standard of competition! Mattea-Jay has much more experience due to her age and managed to take the Bronze in the 17 years and older 200IM and the Silver in the 200M Back and Silver in the 200M Back Championships. She was touched into 4th on the 100M Back final. A great weekend for both girls and they will be joined by Liam Carlin in next weeks event.

Competitions?
Are you unsure what all this Lancashire's, North West Champs and National's stuff everybody chats about is? Well in simple terms we will explain.
For our younger swimmers the major event of the year would be the Lancashires. This arrives normally around March time and requires entry times to have been achieved. Events such as Tadpoles, The Wirral events and City of Liverpool Winter Meet and Liverpool & District etc are the type of events you should look to be involved in to get these times.
As swimmers get to 10 and older they then look to advance to the North West Competition around June time. As before they need entry qualification and the Lancashires as with the other events mentioned help to provide these times. Finally as the swimmers become 11 and older they aspire to the top level they can reach which is the National Competition. Clearly this is a very difficult level to reach but it is absolutely the target!

Need your ASA Times to enter a meet?
As many of our swimmers come of age or find themselves eager to try new competitions outside of the Club Championships you will find more and more tournaments asking for your ASA registered times. These times are gained from entering ASA registered tournaments and are recorded through the years against every individual swimmer. Tournaments that are coming up soon would be the City of Liverpool Sprints, Wirral Meet and Tadpoles. To help give you immediate access to these times (PB's for both 25M and 50M swims) we have created a link on our LINKS page named ASA SWIM TIMES by SWIMMER. Click the Links tab on the header above and then click the link and you will find yourself ready to go by adding your ASA number or surname.
